I have often read that one of the benefits of sewing your own clothes is that you can create the exact clothes that you like - that you can present yourself to the world with your style and in the way that you want to be seen. While I agree that this is true, it assumes that you know your style and what is going to look good on you before you are able to put it on and try it out. I don't think I am the only one, but I am here to confess that I often don't know what is going to look good on me, or what I am going to love before I try it on. Then there is the difficulty of picking the fabric, because even if the pattern is a great fit for me, have I picked the fabric that is really going to bring my vision to life? I admit it, in reality, I have many sewing fails!
But Vogue 9363 is a huge sewing success for me!
I absolutely LOVE this top. It is one of those items in my closet that I put on and it makes me feel like a million!
Why? Well, the pattern is comfortable and a great fit. The print of this fabric is so me - a lovely floral with pink (my favorite) on a navy background (my go to neutral), that isn't too dark of a navy but just right. The fabric is this soft and silky Lavish Cotton Voile from Art Gallery. The bow on the front adds a beautiful feminine detail because I just love those! It accents my waist and not my hips. I put it on with my navy skinny pants and a pair of flats and I feel put together and polished! A simple pink sweater can be added to take me through these Fall transition days. You really can't ask much more of a pattern, or a top! One note on the pattern, if I were making this again, I would lengthen the bow belt by an inch or two. The pattern assumes you are just crossing it over, but if you want to tie it, which you need to do to keep it snug, it could be a little longer. Either way, I love my top and I love a complete sewing success!
