Press up the Lining.
First press 1/2" of the long bottom edge of the waist of the Bodice Lining to the wrong side on both Bodice Front and backs. With the purple marker, on the Back Bodice place a dot 1/2" from the bottom of the waist and 1/2" from the side seam.
Pin Bodice to Bodice Lining.
Placing right sides together, pin the Bodice lining to the Bodice matching the center back, lining up the shoulder seams and pinning the neckline.
Stitch Bodice to Bodice Lining.
Using a straight stitch and 1/2" seam allowance, stitch from the purple dot up the back, around the neckline and back down to the purple dot, back stitching at each end. If you added any embellishment at the neckline, sew the seam with the fashion fabric facing up and use the previous line of stitching that attached the embellishment as the guideline for sewing the neckline. Look at the right side and double check that all looks well. Trim the seam allowance to a scant 1/4". Make notches in the seam allowance to reduce bulk at the neckline.
Press and Understitch the Neckline.
Turn the bodice right side out and press it from the lining side slightly rolling the seam to the wrong side so just a bit of the fashion fabric shows. Finally, understitch the neckline. To do this, turn the bodice wrong side out again and starting at the center front of the neckline stitch the seam allowance to the lining going as far as you can toward the corner. Go back to the center front and stitch toward the other corner.
I will be back on Friday and we will sew our armholes! Happy Sewing!
