Sewing knit garments isn't difficult but it is differnt from wovens. Knits are bulky and that wonderful stretch that makes them so comfortable to wear can cause them to shift. Investing in a few key notions can make all the difference in creating an enjoyable sewing experience as well as a polished finished garment.
Here are four must have notions that I always keep handy when sewing knit fabrics. As always, you can read, but if you prefer to listen, the video is at the bottom of the post.
1 & 2: Binding Clips and Glue Baste It are essential notions to sewing knits.
Binding clips and Glue Baste It serve the same purpose but both are necessary and are used in different applications. As I mentioned, knits are bulky and because of the stretch, often tend to shift as they are sewn. Binding clips and Glue Baste It enable you to control the knit fabric and control the shifting. In the directions for Pink Hollybush Patterns, I tell you when to specifically use each of these.

Paper Backed Fusible enables control when hemming knits
In the photo I show Steam a Seam Lite but any paperbacked fusible will work. When hemming a knit fabric, the stitching is on the cross grain which is usually the area of greatest stretch. A paperbacked fusible prevents the fabric from stretching out as it is hemmed - again providing that control. It also provides a little stability similar to a some interfacing. That brings us to my next must have notion:

Knit Interfacing provides stability when sewing knits
Knit Interfacing allows for some stretch but also gives some stability. All Pink Hollybush Patterns will tell you to use knit interfacing to stabilize the shoulders. All openings, such as button bands and zipper seam allowances should be interfaced as well. Strips of knit interfacing can also be used to stabilize a hem. Knit interfacing is my "go to" interfacing. You can use a knit interfacing with a woven, but not vice versa.
