Smocking Inspiration Kelli Style

Smocking Inspiration Kelli Style

I am off to a family wedding, and hopefully some spring weather! As I was packing some spring transition pieces into my suitcase, I thought you might enjoy some spring sewing and smocking transition inspiration from Kelli! Isn't this top adorable? It isn't a bishop dress, but a size 5 child's top perfect to throw over a pair of jeans or leggings! Kelli made this adorable top from Liberty of London John C Tana Lawn. The pattern is Fancy Free from AS&E issue 96. Kelli again chose a simple geometric design as she did in her Smocking For Your Teenager post, The design and her use of color, complement this vibrant print perfectly without competing with it

You can see this clearly on the sleeve.

I love her use of striped piping, to help showcase the pocket

and neckline.

The buttons she used on the front are used on the back as well, only in a larger size.

I envy the little girl who gets to wear this top!
